I felt the same way about the GPO4 choir. Perhaps it is my fault due to my inexperience, but also I had problems in the past with Human playback. I don't listen the same thing on Finale and in PrintMusic. There is a modulation a minor third until the Gregorian Requiem cell does appear. Hope all this helped!Īfter an nth listening I am curious about what happens starting around 3:40. Trumpets especially are not incredibly realistic. The brass has never been as smooth as I wanted it, or as crisp as I wanted it, but it does alright. I think you would be very impressed with the strings as I was. But I don't think that could work in your situation (I use choir for a background effect rather than a main part).

I usually find the only way to get the choir part to sound full is to have one part and make it a big chord. Magnus Choir is also an option, which includes a number of choir sounds and only costs $40 the drawback is that selecting the choir interface in PrintMusic requires tweaking the instrument number using the Instrument Setting, not a GUI on the VST itself.ĭimitri, as for the choir, I chose "Choir Ahs" for each of the four parts. In fact, much of my music uses both SoundFonts and drum hits (both primarily from that site) mixed with GPO4 and/or Garritan World Instruments. Since I am unable to afford the choirs I would love to have (those from Tonehammer, for example), I looked for other options and have been fairly pleased with the choir SoundFonts at The sfz+ VST plug-in will permit using SoundFonts in PrintMusic (or Finale), and sfz+ is available free with the free membership to the Web site. I will listen again a couple of times, but since I am a beginner I will need more time to understand what am I doing before deciding a purchase. Metals section are too loud but they can be improved. Strings pleased me, although work has to be done. I am surprised by the thin sound of the choir, it looks like more as soloists than a powerful choir. I am conscious that I had optimised the MUS file for the MIDI sounds, and that Garritsn sounds need a patient optimisation before having a fair comparison can be done. Thank you Matt for the quick answer and for the upload. My music is on the Web at and at /jms3music * Garritan Personal Orchestra 4 & World Instruments

If PrintMusic is enough for you, then buying GPO4 is a much better value - for the price of an upgrade to Finale, you could buy several Garritan sound libraries. The big consideration is whether the current workflow in PrintMusic is sufficient for what you do, or if you need the higher level of detail and refinement of Finale itself. Garritan also has other excellent sound libraries, and they play quite nicely together within the Aria VST plug-in.

I use GPO4 with PrintMusic (20) with no problems. In case of your major attempt woulb be to benefit from Garritan sounds.

Just a simple question: why don't you just purchase Garritan GPO4 (with ARIA 圆4/x86 player)? It is available for download at "and the price is far lower than the upgrade to Finale. So based on my choices there (such as I picked Trumbone Solo" as opposed to "Section"), the sound may vary. Also know that in Finale you can choose between "Oboe Solo" and "Oboe Player 1/2/3" and sometimes things like "Trombone Section". I didn't fiddle with any of that, so some parts might be louder or softer than you want. Keep in mind that when playing it with Garritan, the dynamics are different. (It is still uploading as I "speak" so it may not play it all.just wait a few more minutes and it should all be uploaded. Since I did the entire piece it is too big to attatch to the forum so I uploaded it online. Favorite Forum quote: "Please, everybody, IGNORE THE TROLL!"Īlrighty I copied it to Finale.
